Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about using BlinkAlert
Does BlinkAlert work without an internet connection?
Yes, BlinkAlert has an offline mode available for Premium users. When your phone is offline, the app will queue emergency alerts and send them as soon as connectivity is restored. The app will also use SMS as a backup method for critical alerts when data connectivity is unavailable.
How accurate is the location tracking?
BlinkAlert uses a combination of GPS, cellular networks, and WiFi positioning to provide the most accurate location possible. In optimal conditions, location accuracy is within 5-10 meters. In areas with poor GPS signal, accuracy may decrease but the system will indicate the accuracy radius on the map.
Will BlinkAlert drain my battery?
BlinkAlert is designed to be battery-efficient during normal usage. The app uses minimal resources when running in the background and only activates intensive features like continuous location tracking during an active emergency. For longer battery life, you can adjust the location update frequency in the settings.
Can I test the alert system without notifying my contacts?
Yes, BlinkAlert includes a Test Mode feature that allows you to verify that all alert mechanisms are working properly without sending actual notifications to your emergency contacts. To use Test Mode, go to Settings > Test Alert System and follow the instructions.
What happens if I accidentally trigger an alert?
If you accidentally trigger an alert, you have 10 seconds to cancel it before notifications are sent to your contacts. Simply tap the "Cancel Alert" button that appears after triggering. If notifications have already been sent, you can still cancel the alert by entering your Safe Word (Premium users) or by selecting "False Alarm" in the active alert screen.
